Coral Tree Plaza Weekly Update
Happy Friday Everyone.
Hello Coral Tree Plaza Community.
Onsite Management:
In November of 2018, just a few days before my 24th birthday, I was assigned to sit at Coral Tree Plaza temporarily until ASPM found a new full-time manager. Now as I sit here, married and coming up on 28 I have nothing but gratitude for this community. We have been together through different management companies, pandemics, and the like. This was my first real job, before working at Coral Tree Plaza I worked part-time as a barista and part-time at Home Depot. I want to thank every one of you for taking a chance on me. Specifically the Board of Directors. All of those who have sat on the board have been a pleasure to work with. The skills and experience I have gained in this position have set me up for success in all future endeavors.
That is why I want to take a moment and let everyone know that my (brand new) wife and I will be moving back home to Colorado in the early months of 2023. Both Sarah and I have all our family in Colorado. After college we went to Texas to attend undergraduate, we moved to San Diego so she could attend USD Law. San Diego has been home to us for over five years. While we know there is still so much to explore and learn about this wonderful city, we feel the pull to be near family as we enter this next phase of life as newlyweds.
Sarah will begin studying for the Colorado Bar exam and I will be working on fixing up her family home that her parents have very generously given to us to start our new life in Colorado. We plan to stay at both of our jobs here in California up until it is time for us to move out to Colorado.
There is a quote that I think is most fitting for my situation at Coral Tree and I would like to share it here with you right now.
“There’s nowhere you can be that isn’t where you’re meant to be…” – John Lennon
Although I didn’t intend to be a property manager after graduating with a political science degree, I had no idea I would be fortunate enough to have done so at Coral Tree Plaza. It seems that this is exactly where I was meant to be for this part of my life.
I thank you all for your kindness and compassion and will be here for the community as it transitions to a new General Manager after the first of the year.
The Board will be working with Mimi Stansberry, the Association’s Senior Manager at Action to provide a proper transition over the coming months, and as a result, Susan Jackson and Drue Smethers have decided to seek reelection this fall.
Pride Weekend:
I think it’s safe to say that this weekend is the biggest celebration of the year in Hillcrest. The pride parade is back and pride weekend is in full swing. I want to just leave a few notes about the weekend for those that are new or haven’t had the chance to celebrate pride here yet at CTP.
-All guests at the property must be accompanied by a current resident. Anytime you are at the pool, please be sure that you are with your guest.
-Do not use glass in the pool area. When glass gets broken and into the pool, the only way to safely clean it out is to drain it entirely and then sweep the pool.
-The pride parade is Saturday, July 16th from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. The parade comes up on 6th avenue, right alongside our tennis courts. If you are coming or going from the parking garage, there is a police barricade that will temporarily be pushed out to allow access into and out of the garage.
-It is recommended that you move your vehicle out of the parking garage tonight before the parade because even though there is a temporary barricade for cars, it can take a while to get into and out of the garage.
-The San Diego Pride Parade is the largest single0day civic event in the region, and is among the largest Prides in the United States, attracting over 250,000 supporters and members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Happy Pride everyone, and celebrate the ones you love this weekend.
Be Well.
