Coral Tree Plaza Weekly Update

Happy Friday Coral Tree Plaza

Evening Intruders:

Well, it was most certainly an eventful week. As you all are aware we have had multiple thefts in the parking garage in the past two weeks. After hours of combing through the footage, I was able to locate when the intruders came into the garage. They were able to use a key fob to open up the garage gate. After tracing the key that they used, I discovered that it was a key being used by a contractor and the lockbox onsite had been broken into a few weeks back. So I am going to insist that everyone with a lockbox onsite check them this weekend. Going forward, if a vendor or a resident loses a key fob, contact management immediately. I realize that we have a lot of new residents in the building and so they may not know that there is a history of people breaking into the garage. But out of all the times that people have gotten into the garage to steal from the bike cage or a vehicle, the majority of those times they got in using a key. So the association can invest in additional security measures, but ultimately the biggest change needs to come from everyone here. This weekend take a moment and double-check all of your fobs, make sure that they are accounted for. And if you are missing one, report this to me. I can turn the fob off and if you find it later on down the road, it can be turned right back on as well.

Garage Gate:

They say if you love something enough, let it go. Well, this week I realized how much I love having a quiet garage gate. Given that my office is right next to the garage gate, I tend to hear when cars are coming and going based on the sound on the ramp. But now we have a nice screechy noise with the garage gate. This is because earlier this week an unfortunate incident occurred wherein a resident accidentally drove into the garage gate. House of Automation was able to quickly make temporary repairs just to get the gate functioning for the remainder of the week and this weekend. In the interim, the gate is going to open and close slightly slower than before, it is also scraping on metal when it runs. Please know that this is all temporary until we can make full repairs to the gate. So when coming in or going out, be sure the gate has closed behind you, and nobody has snuck in.

San Diego Rock ‘n’ Roll:

When I was 19 I decided to run a marathon. Having never trained for one in my life or ever run more than 2 miles at once, I can tell you. It was a terrible idea. Some people have not yet learned that lesson and so they are running this weekend in the San Diego Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon. The marathon comes straight up 6th avenue. It’s right at the beginning of the course so in the morning on Sunday, there are going to be many many people regretting their decision as they haul up 6th avenue beginning their race. For those of you who have decided not to run (more power to you), there will be an option to get out and in the parking garage. It will be the same type of in and out used during the Pride Parade. You will turn immediately out and up the alley of our neighboring association to the North. Police are expected to be stationed at this area of 6th avenue to direct traffic. I would highly recommend postponing any Sunday morning plans that are not essential because it will be difficult and slow getting out of Hillcrest that morning.

Callboxes Are The Best:

Don’t you love a good comeback story? I mean who doesn’t. Patriots win the Superbowl after trailing 28-3, Red Sox overcome the 3-0 deficit to end “The Curse of the Bambino”, Tiger Woods, and so on. Well, we are going to see a comeback of the West building callbox shortly here. CRB installed the new callbox this week in the West building. It was too good to be true for Coral Tree to have two functioning callboxes. Well, it was too good to be true. The motherboard of the callbox has a manufacturer defect. So another one has been ordered. The parts were ordered on Wednesday. They are being sent over as soon as possible. There is a slight delay on parts because of the international shortage of computer chips. If you have a guest coming to the property, they will not be able to use the callbox to get in. We will get this fixed just as soon as we can. Thank you all for your patience as we work to get the box fixed.
