Coral Tree Plaza Weekly Update
Happy Friday Coral Tree Plaza
Happy December everyone!
Neighborhood Reminder: Mask Reminder (again)
As a friendly reminder, I must once again ask everyone onsite to please wear a mask. It is extremely important that we all continue to be diligent in our COVID response as a community. I understand that pandemic fatigue is very real. However, now is most definitely not the time to rest on our laurels. So whenever you are outside of your unit, please wear a mask. This includes and is especially important in the elevators. If you are riding alone in the elevator, please still wear a mask. The elevator is a small enclosed space with very little to no ventilation. So to counteract that, wear a mask and protect not only yourself but your neighbors. This also extends to your guests. Many residents will likely have friends and family over for the holidays. If you are choosing to have a guest come to the property, please remind them ahead of time that they must keep their mask on until they are in your unit. Other downtown associations have made rules for mask-wearing and have begun enforcing fines, luckily we have not had to do that. But please wear your mask all the time.
Trash Chute Hours:
The rules and regulations state that the trash rooms/chutes should be used between 8:00 am and 9:00 pm. I previously sent out a reminder about this earlier in the week but it bears repeating. If you must throw away your trash please do so during the aforementioned hours. If you find yourself having to throw away trash late at night, please either wait until morning or go down to the first floor to dispose of your trash. Additionally, with all of the Amazon, FedEx, UPS, USPS deliveries coming to the property remember that we do not allow cardboard boxes to be thrown down the chute. It will get stuck and clog up the trash chute and one of the onsite team members then have to dislodge the trash. Cardboard boxes can be broken down and slid behind the recycling bins down in the parking garage.
Water Conservation:
California is a wondrous place to live. If you wanted to, you could surf in the morning and ski in the afternoon. There are so many incredible things to do and benefits to living here. One problem that we have here is a lack of water. As you may or may not know, Coral Tree Plaza pays for the water bill at the association. A percentage of each owner’s dues go to paying for the water. So to help out California and your neighbors, consider incorporating these water conservation tips into your daily routine (tips provided by the Environmental Protection Agency).
In the Kitchen:
– When cooking, peel and clean vegetables in a large bowl of water instead of under running water.
– Fill your sink or basin when washing and rinsing dishes.
– Only run the dishwasher when it’s full.
In the Bathroom:
– Take short showers instead of baths.
– Turn off the water to brush teeth, shave and soap up in the shower. Fill the sink to shave.
Laundry:
– Run full loads of laundry.
– When purchasing a new washing machine, buy a water-saving model that can be adjusted to the load size.
Nancy Out on Vacation:
Our wonderful and always cheerful Nancy Grano from the United States Postal Service is going to be out of town on holiday from December 25th to January 1st. Of course, we will continue to receive the mail, however, Nancy will not be delivering it. So if you have any business with her, she will be back in the New Year.
Electronic Waste Pick Up:
Did you know that E-waste represents 2% of America’s trash in landfills, but equals 70% of overall toxic waste? Recycling 1 million laptops saves the energy equivalent to the electricity used by 3,657 U.S. homes in a year. We generate around 40 million tons of electronic waste every year, worldwide. That’s like throwing away 800 laptops every second. Most electronic waste is sent to Asia to be disassembled and burned or buried. The toxins pollute water, air, and land. So sending your used electronics to a recycling facility is a far better method of getting rid of your old stuff. The electronic waste recycling program will disassemble the products, take out any precious metals, and reuse the plastic/materials.
I have scheduled an electronic waste pickup for Tuesday, December 22nd. This is a bit different from the roll away dumpster. Think radios, computers, televisions, monitors, headphones, etc. All of the electronic waste for the association needs to be put out in a designated spot by 6:00 am on Tuesday the 22nd. So please start gathering your electronic waste. On Monday night / Tuesday morning, you can begin setting out your electronic waste in the designated spots at the above-ground parking lot.
This week I am leaving you with a bit of humor as we near the end of 2020.
Stay safe.
