Coral Tree Plaza Weekly Update
Happy Friday Coral Tree Plaza
COVID-19 Update:
IMPORTANT UPDATES TO GUIDANCE
Use of Zoom app for online meetings or gatherings: We had included Zoom as a communication app in our guidance on Neighbor Check-In and Assistance. Since then, there has been much news questioning the security of this app. It is, of course, up to you as to its use, but we wanted to update you with the latest information. Please follow the link below for a summary of the issues.
New CDC, State and Local Guidance on Wearing Face Coverings: In the last two days, guidance has changed regarding the wearing of face coverings when going out for essential business. The recommendation now is to wear a cloth face mask – not a surgical or N95 mask – whenever you leave your home. Again, please consult your primary health care provider regarding what is appropriate for you. Please follow the links below for the official guidance from the CDC, the state of California, and the County of San Diego. Also included is a link for DIY face coverings from simple, no-sew versions to more structured, sewn versions.
Friendly Neighbor Reminder: Handle Package With Care
Periodically I walk by the mailroom lobby in either building and briefly think that it is the holidays with all the mail and packages coming in! Given the limitations put on the community and the closures of many stores, there are plenty of residents ordering packages. As a way to reduce the potential transmission of COVID-19, please do NOT touch a package that is not yours. Do not bring a package up to your neighbors unit. Although this may seem like the friendly and neighborly thing to do, it could, in fact, be putting your neighbor at risk.
General Manager – Medical Leave
With the COVID-19 pandemic shutting down non-essential surgeries, I will no longer be taking my previously approved medical leave. Many people in the state will and currently do need the bed space. It is better used on those with dire medical needs right now. Once a sense of normalcy returns to the healthcare system, I will take my medical leave. For the time being, I will be onsite at working for the needs of the CTP community.
Flushable Wipes:
In case this was previously overlooked, flushable wipes are most certainly not flushable. I have been speaking with a few different plumbers over the past week or so. They are being called out on emergency calls to address clogged lines from flushable wipes. Please do not flush the wipes. They are not like toilet paper and will not break down properly.
Generator Load Test:
In keeping with as-needed repairs and updates to the community, the backup generator will be tested next week. On Wednesday, April 8th starting at 8:00 am, Global Power will be running the generator at maximum capacity for approximately 4 hours. We do not anticipate any changes to the comings and goings inside the buildings. Meaning that you will still have power, the elevators will continue to operate, and the fob system will remain on. Justin, myself, and a secondary technician from ProTec will be onsite just in case extra hands are needed during the test.
Maintenance Update:
This week Justin worked with Christian Martinez construction to make repairs to the clubhouse bathroom after the flood. Additionally, he assisted House of Automation to repair a roller on the gate. ProTec worked on the chiller boiler system with SDME and installed a new EZ float on the cooling tower of the mechanical room.
Still I Rise – Maya Angelou
You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may trod me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I’ll rise.
Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
’Cause I walk like I’ve got oil wells
Pumping in my living room.
Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I’ll rise.
Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops,
Weakened by my soulful cries?
Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don’t you take it awful hard
’Cause I laugh like I’ve got gold mines
Diggin’ in my own backyard.
You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I’ll rise.
Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I’ve got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?
Out of the huts of history’s shame
I rise
Up from a past that’s rooted in pain
I rise
I’m a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
I rise
Into a daybreak that’s wondrously clear
I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
I rise
I rise
I rise.
Stay safe.
